The NIVELCO NIVOCAP C cabled capacitive level transmitter (level transmitter) offers an ideal solution for level measurement of conductive or non-conductive liquids (fluids).
What is the working principle of the device? Its probe and reference probe (which may be the metal wall of the tank or mounted separately) work as opposite plates of a capacitor. Between the plates of this capacitor, during the filling of the tank, air is replaced by a medium whose dielectric constant is greater than air, and therefore the capacitance changes in direct proportion to the level. The integrated electronic circuit measures the capacitance difference and converts it into an output signal proportional to the level.
