The Gutermann MagScan 100 Metal Valve and Pipe Detector detects the magnetic field of a ferromagnetic object. It reacts to the difference in magnetic fields. This will provide a stronger signal on the edge of the pipe, valve or cap to mark the shape of the found object for the operator. Also when tracing a ferrous pipe with magscan 100 it is convenient to place the closed valve as an increase in signal strength.
